Battery KC certification

Introduction: The Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) of Korea announced on August 25, 2008 that the National Standards Committee will implement a new national unified certification mark from July 2009 to December 2010, named KC Mark, representing Korea Certification. The electrical appliance safety certification system (KC certification) is a mandatory and voluntary safety confirmation certification system implemented in accordance with the Electrical Appliances Safety Management Law, and is a safety certification manufacturing/sales system.

Applicants for safety certification: all businesses that produce, assemble, and process electrical products at home and abroad.

Safety certification system and methods:

Apply for certification by product model, which is divided into basic model and derivative model.

In order to distinguish the model and the design of electrical appliances, products with different functions are given their own unique product names.

Lithium battery KC certification product range

1. Lithium secondary battery used in portable equipment (removable equipment);

2. Cells sold as battery use, cells that are part of the battery are not in this range;

3. Except for electric energy storage devices and uninterruptible power supplies that use batteries with a power of more than 500Wh;

4. Batteries with a volumetric energy density ratio of less than 400Wh/L will be included in the certification scope from April 1, 2016.

Lithium battery series model division

Lithium batteries can be applied for by series (multiple models) provided that certain conditions are met, and only one basic model in the series will be tested. The series are divided as follows:

Batteries:

1. Types of batteries: lithium ion batteries, lithium polymer batteries

2. The shape of the cell: a. Cylindrical, b. Rhombus

3. The main material of the battery: a. positive electrode, b. negative electrode

4. The shape of the battery cell: a. Soft case, b. Hard case

5. The capacity of the battery cell is divided: a. Cylindrical-≤2400mAh; >2400mAh b. Rhombus/lithium polymer ≤1500 mAh; ≤3000 mAh; ≤5000 mAh; >5000mAh

6. Online charging voltage: ≤4.25V; >4.25V

7. Series and parallel mode: a. No series, parallel b. No series (the battery protection IC is the same as the other battery)

8. The protection devices and specifications are the same, such as FUSE, PTC, IC, etc.
