Waterproof and dustproof test

Dust test

Project Introduction

There are dustproof test requirements for portable, outdoor use and automotive electronics. Internationally, whether it is IEC, MIL or ETSI, and SAE, there are corresponding test requirements. It is used to detect electrical and electronic products, automobile and motorcycle parts, and seals in the sand and dust environment to prevent sand and dust from entering the seal and shell test, and the test method to determine the impact of sand and dust suspended in the air on the product.

IEC/EN60529 dustproof is divided into 7 grades (grade 0 ~ grade 6), dustproof grade (e.g. IP5X- dustproof grade 5)

Level 0: No dust protection at all

Level 1: It can protect against foreign objects with a diameter greater than 50 mm from falling into the equipment

Level 2: It can protect against foreign objects with a diameter greater than 12.5 mm from falling into the equipment

Level 3: It can protect against foreign objects with a diameter greater than 2.5 mm from falling into the equipment

Level 4: It can protect against foreign objects with a diameter greater than 1.00 mm from falling into the equipment

Level 5: Can not completely prevent dust from entering, but the amount of dust entering must not affect the normal operation of the equipment, and must not affect safety

Level 6: Completely dustproof

Waterproof test

Project Introduction

There are waterproof test requirements for portable, outdoor and automotive electronics. Internationally, no matter whether it is IEC, MIL or ETSI, and SAE, there are corresponding test requirements.

IEC/EN60529 waterproof is divided into 9 grades (grade 0 ~ grade 8), waterproof grade (e.g. IPX4-waterproof grade 4):

Level 0: completely waterproof without protection

Level 1: Water dripping in the vertical direction should have no harmful effects

Level 2: When the vertical surfaces of the shell are inclined within 15°, the vertical dripping water should have no harmful effects

Level 3: Water spray within 60° of each vertical surface, no harmful effects

Level 4: Water splashing in all directions of the shell has no harmful effects

Level 5: Spraying water in all directions of the shell has no harmful effects

Level 6: Strong spray of water in all directions of the shell has no harmful effects

Level 7: After being immersed in water at a specified pressure for a specified period of time, the amount of water entering the enclosure will not reach a harmful level

Level 8: According to the conditions agreed by the manufacturer and the user (should be more severe than Level 7), the amount of water in the enclosure after continuous diving will not reach harmful levels

The IP rating system provides a method to classify products according to the degree of dust, water and collision resistance of electrical equipment and packaging. This system has been recognized by most European countries and is outside of IEC529 (BS EN 60529: 1992) Announced in the package protection level (IP code).
