Australia GEMS certification

In order to improve the energy efficiency of electrical equipment and products in various industries, and to enhance significant economic and environmental benefits, Australia and New Zealand issued Greenhouse and Energy Low Standard Technical Regulations (referred to as GEMS) and came into effect on October 1, 2012. GEMS certification belongs to Compulsory certification in Australia, products that fall under the control must have GEMS certification before they can be sold on the market, and the applicant must be a locally registered company in Australia.

Dishwashers; household refrigeration appliances; linear double-ended fluorescent lamps; transformers and electronic voltage converters for ELV lamps; fluorescent lamp ballasts; washing machines; general lighting self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps; general lighting incandescent lamps; electric water heaters, etc.

GEMS certification is a mandatory performance and efficiency certification officially implemented by the Australian and New Zealand governments on October 1, 2012, to replace MEPS certification. As GEMS certification stipulates that only local applicants in Australia or New Zealand can register and apply, to a certain extent, there are certain trade barriers to Chinese products.
