The EU Machinery Directive is not aimed at technical details, but focuses on machinery design and agency-related safety and health regulations. The current Machinery Directive (98/37/EC, promulgated by the Official Journal of the European Union on July 23, 1998) replaced the 89/392/EEC promulgated in 1989 and the subsequent revised Directive 91/368/EEC, 93/ 44EEC and 93/63/EEC. Since January 1, 1995, the Machinery Directive has officially become a mandatory regulation in Europe. At the same time, all EU member states must incorporate some of its basic regulations into their respective national laws.
The EU Machinery Directive 98/37/EC applies to all kinds of machinery and safety parts sold on the market, but it is not applicable to some specific machinery. The complete specifications of the Machinery Directive, including the issuance of the declaration of conformity and the application of the CE mark, are also applicable to second-hand or refurbished machinery, including: second-hand or refurbished machinery imported into the region by countries outside the European Economic Area for the first time. From all over the world, new machines assembled after disassembly and reorganization have new designs and new risks.
